Jim’s has been in the family since the 1940’s when it was built by Dave’s Uncle Jim and Jeanne Wakeley. Jim was a legend in the guiding community and the business quickly became a pillar in the community. Jeanne and Jim quickly expanded the property from a small house for their family to several cabins, an office, and canoe rental. In the morning they would make and sell fresh coffee and donuts from the office. The held an annual Riverboat Regatta and fostered a sense of community around their beautiful property. Upon Uncle Jim’s untimely passing in the mid 70’s Aunt Jeanne ran Jim’s with hired help, but ultimately found it too difficult to manage herself. She offered us the opportunity to buy the business, keeping it in the family and here we are 40 years later! The buildings, beautiful setting, and hospitality are all the same as when Jeanne and Jim ran the place. In our 40 years here we have raised our three children and now enjoy entertaining our four grandchildren here on the great AuSable. We have remodeled and upgraded the cabins several times to offer you all the latest amenities the cabins can offer. Jim’s holds a very special place in our family’s hearts and holds many great memories.
